Paying your rent

Residents pay their rent monthly – on the first of each month – or quarterly, on 1st September, 1st December, 1st March and 1st June. You’ll make your first payment by cheque or bank transfer, and then choose one of these easy methods for your rent payments:

1 Pension Deduction

This is our preferred option because it’s the simplest and most convenient way for you to pay your rent. All you need to do is complete and return this Consent Form. The monthly or quarterly rent will be deducted from your pension and sent to us, and you’ll receive the remainder of your pension as usual.

If your pension is not sufficient to have the rent deducted, you can pay by one of the options below.

2 Standing Order

If you’d like to pay your rent by standing order, you can either set this up with your bank online or ask us for forms to take along to the bank in person. We ask our residents to pay quarterly, but if this causes you financial difficulties we can allow a monthly payment, due on the 1st of every month.

3 Cheque

If you prefer to pay by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Methodist Ministers’ Housing Society’ and post to – Methodist Ministers’ Housing Society, 109 Baker Street, London W1U 6RP.

Housing Benefit

If you wish to claim Housing Benefit, please contact your local housing benefit office and complete the form they provide. They can pay your housing benefit directly to you.

If there’s anything you’d like to ask about these payment methods, you’re welcome to call the Finance department on 020 3848 6027 or 6028. We’ll be glad to help. For further guidance, please refer to the Residents’ Handbook.
