3. If I have already made my will can I change it to include the Society?

Yes, you can you do this either by rewriting your will or by signing a codicil.  However, nowadays it is considered best to write a new will. Whichever method you choose, it is advisable to do it through a solicitor: please feel free to contact us for advice.

4. How can I make a donation to the Society?

You can make a donation by cheque, bank transfer or by using our online donation page. You can Gift Aid your donation if your circumstances permit.

5. How does Gift Aid work?

The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor. Charities take your donation – which is money you’ve already paid tax on – and the basic rate tax from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on its ‘gross’ equivalent (the amount before basic rate tax was deducted). Basic rate tax is 20 per cent, so this means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it’s worth £12.50 to the charity.

6. How can I let you know that my donation is to include Gift Aid?
In order to make a Gift Aid donation you’ll need to make a Gift Aid declaration. We ask you to state that every gift made to us for whatever period you choose is to have Gift Aid applied: this covers any gifts you’ve already made and/or gifts you may make in the future.

A Gift Aid declaration must include:
• your full name
• your home address
• the name of the charity
• details of your donation
and it should state that this is a Gift Aid donation.

7. How can I make a bequest in my will to the Society?

You will need to consult a solicitor to ensure that your will is correctly drawn up. You can see the Society’s recommended wording here.

8. Can I make a regular donation as and when I would like to?
